![]() So I'm saving for a rodi but in the meantime I am making water in a big rubbermaid with tap water but I dose with seachem prime. I mix it for a few hours then move the water into 5 gallon waters jugs. Am I doing this right? I know rodi is ideal but I 'm not there yet. Thanks

![]() You are going to get mixed feelings about this from different members. Some swear by rodi and others say they only use tap water. I first setup my tank with tap to fill but have used filtered water for top offs ever since. It really depends what is in your water to begin with. In Vancouver, we have a pretty good water source so my opinion is that our tap water is fine after being treated with prime but others will probably disagree.

![]() I used to put prime into the bucket, fill it with water, then add my salt and then into the tank.
For top up water, same thing, but no salt. I did that for more then a year. RODI now though. |
