![]() Finally got the tank close to home, Outside for a cleaning and for the last stage before putting iton the stand.
I saw a thread on another site that did a tile back wall and thought "what the Hell' Looked good.... gotta try it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Weather has been amazing here so far this summer, was nice to be outside working on the tank, BUT time to get this on the stand. Had a couple guys lined up to help me get it in the house, but that didn't happen so, and in light of what happened to the last tank, I wiggled it onto a dolly and ran it in the house by myself. Broke a vase and a 2x4 but tank made ther trip intact. Thought about setting it on the stand myself but with the extra weight of the tile and the fact that I added an extra 5 1/2" to the height of the stand, thought that it would be best to wait for help.

![]() Finally, tank and stand together in my house....
![]() Still not 100% about the extra height on the stand, will need a workbench everytime to do any work on the tank. Try it for a while and keep thinking of all the work it will be to remove the 2 x 6. I have lots of benches kicking around from my drywalling days. ![]() Version # 3 of my reactor manifold ![]() Old sump all cleaned up ![]() Plumbed and ready ![]() Version #1 of my electical box. actually had to mod it once because I didn't measure how big the Radion Ballasts were and had to add 3/4" to the depth. Used an old American DJ switch box from work for all those things I want to be able to turn off and on all the time. Have one GFI plug plugged to the wall and one GFI on a battery backup for one pump and a heater for the once a month power outage. Still have plenty of space for a controller EB8 in the box and even a few more boxes if needed. Ran the pump controller to the front with the switches also. ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() An old piece of airline or other hose, slit length-wise and stuffed over that broken glass, may be a friend one day

![]() Good idea, I have plans for my tile saw and some extra glass I have laying around. Think there may be a tube of silicone around also. Until then I like your safety suggestion.

![]() My buddy the mailman has been like family lately, almost everyday he drops off little things for me and for another tank I'm doing for a guy here in Yellowknife.
![]() A Sicce Voyager 7 and a Sicce Voyager 4. EVER BIG . ![]() The 7 is quite big, but ever so quiet also. Another plus was the fact that the magnet held through the glass and tile on both pumps. ![]() The 7 pushs 2800 GPH and the 4 1600. so a good start to my flow needs.

![]() Wow, with that big new pump you have, you still can't get the overflow running wide open ... this is good as you will not have to ever worry about your overflow being overwhelmed
Nothing wrong with that As we discussed with Grizz, you only need 6 or 7 times sump turn-over/hour No point in running a larger pump for now. Get the system running and worry about it later I know, you don't like the gate being so 'closed-off' I agree with your concern about it plugging up, but that can't happen if you cover the top of your overflow with a sheet of acrylic Only the snails that grow in the box ... the ones that went through the teeth ... will ever get big enough to plug up the gate Plus, the velocity of water passing through such a small opening will most likely keep it clear You can also, once a month or whenever, open the gate full blast and flush it out I found a snail in my chaeto drain this way ... popped right out ![]() I'll sit back now while you keep adding pics ..... |
