![]() Hello all.
I posted my progress on my DIY LED build that i "finished" a little while ago. I just wanted to repost the thread here in case it might be of benefit to someone else. Instead of using a big heatsink, I used 40deg optics and 2 small heatsinks with 80mm cooling fans. I go by Forced_Induction on this forum. enjoy http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/inde...owtopic=294981 |

![]() Unfortunately I am unable to give a reliable report of coral growth. I was running NPX biopellets since last spring/summer, and recently took them all off the system. I became convinced they were over stripping N & P and causing most growth to stop. For the last 6 months, nothing was growing, and my emerald palys bleached out.
but Im happy to report that with the combination of removing the biopellets and the light upgrade, things are looking great. i even have 2 zoa colonies that i thought were toast beginning to grow back. I even see a couple tiny polyps opening. (never did remove the frag rocks) I am much happier with the color over my old Power compact fixture. no more $280/yr bulb costs, less power usage, and less heat output. for a total of around 750$, it wont take long to recover the costs either. |
