I have a Deltec MCE-600.
Works great. doesn't stick out far. I only wish the cup were bigger so I don't have to empty it so much! Might be overkill. You can look into the CPR skimmers, they do well 40ish gallon tanks. The Deltec is actually overkill for a 40... My Deltec skims a 40 display with a 30 sump so maybe 55-60 gallons volume.
