![]() Just bought a Duncan (10) heads and some acans. Do they require any special care/feeding? Thanks

![]() Using acan plus wil help bring out colours well, but I've gotten by without using that so far. Hard part is usually placement, you want a well lit spot, without too much flow. You still need some flow, but nothing that's going to irritate them. Generally pretty hardy, and look great once established.

![]() IME the duncans do best if they are spot fed a couple of times a week.
I usually make up a mixture of chopped shrimp, phyto and zooplankton, Cyclopeeze, Reef Roids, garlic, and Selcon. Then I squirt it at the duncan heads with a syringe.

![]() Acan Plus is a fantastic product for Acans as well as duncans! I use it for both in my tank and they grow like crazy with amazing color. One of my favorite products by far!

![]() I have some acan plus, will give everyone a squirt tonight. All the heads on the Duncan are open today! So pretty! The a cans were in the sand but kept getting knocked over so i've moved them to a rock. They always have their tentacles out, is this normal?

![]() I've got three Acans and one Duncan and I don't target feed although I have occasionally in the past. Whenever you feed your fish these types of coral are bound to catch some of the missed scraps which is good enough for me.
Here are my results without target feeding. The colour hasn't actually changed, I just did a better job with the camera. January 1 2011 ![]() January 7 2012 ![]() I also grew this colony from three polyps. This picture represents about 3 years of uninterrupted growth. ![]()

![]() Yes it is good food.
After you make it kinda pasty, turn off all your pumps and feed each polyp. It is a good time to feed all your other coral with appropriate food as well and chuck in some cyclopeze for your fish |

![]() Any food for corals will be good.
I have used acan plus and others with identical response. I am still opposed to the lack of transparency with Acan Plus, as discussed long ago, but it does feed the corals as well as more pricey foods like my current ultra clam ... Which I love. Lower flow area of the tank is best.

I would not. I would probably moan and complain, read three words and swear once or twice. But since you made it this far, please rate my builds. ![]() |
