if your trying to get good shots and you'd like to shoot from the top, why no try this?

I've thought of building one, it seems like a great way to get "closer close ups" if your macro is struggling

A few tips i found along the way
-Use a tripod if you have one
-Shut off the flow in your tank to help the picture be more clear
-Turn off all other lights in the room
-No flash
-As far as color goes you should go into your settings to change the white balance (I have a nikon so im unsure the exact way to change it) but it should be easy to find out online if you cant figure it out. most cameras white balance is measured in Ks much like halide lights and set it to the highest K value to make up for the intense aquarium lighting.
-play with your manual focus especially on macro shot. Auto focus sometimes doesnt focus in on the specific spot your looking for
-Set your shutter speed to high as you can adjust the brightness on the computer. I find that with a higher shutter speed it captures the highlights, colors, and shadows much better

One of the biggest thing that I found was always shooting at a 90 degree angle to the glass. It should stop any distortion and color shifting due the light refracting inside the glass.
