![]() I want to price out my lighting, and was wondering what lighting to get. Well I have a 135g with a conopy. If I put some MH lighting in this canopy will they overheat? May they even heat up my tank too much?
Is there some other alternitive that I should consider for inside a conopy? ________ Creampie gangbang Last edited by Arty Morty; 04-06-2011 at 07:53 PM. |

![]() Depends on the ccanopy design and the light size and how many. 2x 175w wouldn't add heat. 3 x 400w will generate a lot of heat. If the canopy is vented, it holds less than a sealed canopy. So no real answer to your question.
In my canopy, I have 2 400w bulbs and a fan. In the summer, my tank goes from 80 to 89 every day due to lights.

The heat comes from the bulbs. The ballasts are remote. It is also on the top floor of my house. If it was in the basement, it would not be an issue (or as much anyway)

![]() I will be in the basement, ( my tank too ) but I think I better get a couple fans going to be safe. Thanks guys!
I have another question, does the lighting need to be centered from front to back? I ask this because my stand and canopy are 24" wide, but my tank is 18" Therefore, with my tank at the front of my stand ( nessasary for holes to line up) the back of my canopy where the lighting normally would go is directly over well, nothing. The best I can do is have my lighting over say the back 10" of my tank. (the swing open lid is10-12") Will this be ok, or should I look into an alternative setup? phew* ________ FREE VAPORIZER Last edited by Arty Morty; 04-06-2011 at 07:53 PM. |
