I also have a red dragon 1200 gph pump which by far the most quietest realiable pump I have ever used, unfortunately it is on the expensive side around a thousand for the pump. I totally agree with you on the Eheim 1262 which is an excellent pump and my first choice for 900gph and under. They are quiet, efficient and last for years I hear. Due to needing more gph I recently bought a ATB Flowstar 1800 pump for my 180gal and its even more quiet than the Eheim if you can believe it, but a bit more $$ than the Eheim.
