Randy Holmes-Farley has been quite vocal about Borneman's lack of understanding of plastics in regards to that thread. Randy has stated that Borneman needs to stick to his own area of expertise!

Low-density polyethylene, it is the same plastic used the make sandwich bags, drink containers , etc.
it is food grade
