You're certainly going to have a lot more heat to worry about with 2x250 vs 2x150 that's for sure. Fans were not enough for me when I went to 2x250 and that's on a 97g. Every scenario/location is different. I suspect the 150s are ok but I preder 250s for their portability and much better bulb selection.

MH are more penetrating, as other said very defined and intense, whereas T5 are move enveloping... But MH (I run 2X250W) can penetrate to the bottom of my tank with no issues, and my tank is 26-27 inches deep.

Also nice affect of the MH is the shimmering and rays through the water, kinda like in nature itself.
