Love the new logo! Are halides really that noisy? I don't have any fans on mine. LOL, the rest of the tank probably drowns out whatever sounds they might make anyways

Fans are a little noisy, but only have them on in August, Sept. My fixture does however, make a loud cracking sound when it cools down. Sounds just like glass breaking. Even though I know what it is I still check the tank every time I hear it. Scared the crap out of me the first time!

One of Ol' Blue's big brothers is a dual Bluewave 7 ballast. It's actually very loud with it's buzzity-hum thing. My dual PFO is quite a bit better.

Unauthorized use of the logo is encouraged btw!

I'm open to changes to the image (currently an EVIL Sol fixture) and the 3-word slogan so let me know if it needs changing. Maybe the noisey bit is unique to only a few of the old magnetics =)

I've got a single bluewave and dual PFOs. All HQI. I wouldn't trade those beasts for anything

In fairness to the club I proposed a measly 5k lighting budget to my wife for the new tank days before starting the club. I started the club when I regained consciousness from the ass-kicking I received.

Hey I love my M80s too! Long live Radium and excessive mercury content!

My old fixture used to be like that. This one dissipates the heat really well. 3x400W MH with 8x39W T5 and the temp never exceeds 80 except in summer when I need a few fans to keep it below 81

I don't think my heater ever comes on. There are three 250W Magnetic ballasts on my 230gal system. The tank even heats the house. We don't need to turn the furnace on until the temperature outside starts dropping below freezing and this is an old poorly insulated house.
