LF Info on Saltwater/reef systems in a 40gallon tank.

Hey Im a big first timer at the Saltwater aquariums and I was hoping to get some guide lines on how to set up and what equipment I may need for the reef environment I am trying to achieve. (Which could be easily subject to change)
Also I am in the market of aquiring parts for the my setup, so if the are any pitchs out there; Im all ears.
What I already have on the way is an older model 40gallon tank drilled on both rear corners 36L x 24W x 14H (rough estimates) with 4in x 4in over flow gaps, and possible 29gallon & 15gallon tanks for sumps ( both undrilled).
