My 5lb bottle lasts me more then a year. My bubble rate is 1 Co2 bubble per 3-4 seconds, drip is 2-3 drops per second.
You must have had a leak or your bottle was not filled properly. Go to KMS tools for refills.

Heading over there this afternoon, I did check it with dish soap and water. Its so weired.
