Overflow and Sump Question

Would a filter sock in the sump be ok to use instead of the prefilter?

you could try using both, i plan on trying a filter sock as well. Personally id leave the prefilter on to catch the debris before it enters your plumbing. Cleaning it takes less that a minute just running it under water and squishing it like a sponge. Its actually pretty amazing what it filters out being as porous as it is.
