Default re-silicone

On the same topic, I have a 65gal that has discolored and chipped silicone, along several seams. The tank doesn't leak, but I would like to improve its looks and the relability of the joints.
Could I just razor away the exposed silicone and redo the bevel, ie without separating the panes (pains)??
What do ya all think?
John
