Yep skimmer compartments are usually first. You are running both GFO and pellets? Do you have phospate problems?

Sorry to hijack, but do you guys find that the flow rate through the skimmer compartment affects the skimmer's efficiency?

If so, is low flow better than high flow?

make sure you syphon your return area during waterchanges. without socks you get alot of build up, esspecially in a tank with lots of fish
