From what I can tell, it seems to only be the stealth pro heaters. Most of the feedback for the original stealth heaters is good. I haven't heard of any that exploded.

Brett - I saw the reference to copper as well. I'm not sure what would happen if you dropped a penny in your tank? In any event, a really big water change should be sufficient to dilute it.

Thank's that's good to know. My cichlids are getting kind of big and I actually liked the fact it was metal. Have had it for 5 years with no problems.

Hi Mark. I don't think you need to worry. It's only the "pro" heaters.

The posted link doesn't work. I believe it is here:

I am keeping mine. Hopefully they will recall them in the future.

Just a quick note, I was able to successfully exchange my 250W Stealth Pro for an equivalent at PetSmart in Bellingham no questions asked (we go to Costco for some shopping and it's right next door).

So if you don't have a receipt and cannot return it to your local LFS, your local Petsmart is stepping up to the plate and handling this situation very well.

Cheers.

What else can a guy really do? I'm sure it'll work out ok. Thankfully the tank did not have all your stuff transferred into it that would be heart-breaking.
