Default Light bulb manufacturers

So it seems there may be a big difference between manufacturers of MH light bulbs. I'm considering two from Hamilton but I think I read somewhere on here that they may not be as good as some of the others out there. 10,000k Hamilton bulbs? whats wrong with them?

Nothing's wrong with them. I believe they are the same thing as Ushio though, just a different brand name stamped on them.

I wondered about that, but thought I'd ask.

My Hamilton 10000 lasted only 6 months. Then it just wouldn't fire up. Hamilton's answer was "halide bulbs are finicky". No offer for replacement or anything. I've never bought another and have never had any more problems.

Wow, that's no good, mind you, I can get them for about $75 each so if there is a problem it's not the end of the world, but I will keep that in mind.

actualy they are made in the same factory as Ushio and that is about all they have in commen. Hamiltons do not have as high of a quality standard as Ushio's and hence that is why they are just over 1/2 the cost.

if you want to see bulbs that are so close to ushio that they might just be the same bulb with different names look at BLV and another that is on the tip of my tounge but I can't remember it.

I've never heard of BLV, so cost wise I'd be better off to stick with the one 400 MH I've got and just go with one bulb, cheaper than replacing two 175s.
