yah the coast to coast design is the only way to go, even at 2000gph over 8 feet, the water level over the edge is maybe 1/8th", 1/4" at most.
if I had room, I would have made the c2c external, but it still works. my snails move in and out at will, keeping it clean, havent had any fish go over yet.
