Ryan. Hahaha... I know I know man... Im just not in the $$ range for a salt tank that big :P

Brett, thanks haha. And oh man... I figured someone would comment on all the junk in the room haha, and I will actually be adding a whole bunch of driftwood and plants eventually so 'they' will be replaced with something but not quite rock, lol.

Thanks Levi! And yeah as i've said before I have to give all the credit for the tile work to Brett. He did an incredible job on that stand.

Oh and Brett I dont know if you ever got the chance to test how watertight the stand is... but I sure did. Cause I made sure to hook up the drain within the stand and my drainage bin... I flooded the sump while filing it (turned on the fill tap and closed the stand door and forgot about it lol) ended up with 2-3 gal on the floor and about 10 in the stand and 5 into my bin when I caught it lol. Works like a charm!

More later... getting my stupid mac fixed again lol.

Cheers,

Chris

Levi you asked about lighting... Im planning on hanging a 4 bulb 48" tek light over this bad boy. Probably with something like 2 ATI blue +, some sort of aquablue, and the a fiji purple (the pink bulbs I think?). Mainly to bring out colours on fish. I have a 2 bulb ready fit 48" fixture hanging over my 112g (6 foot) freshwater and it is plenty of light so... Buddy of mine has a 48 inch 4 bulb T5 (of some random brand) over his tall 230 and it looks good(and its sitting on glass lids), so I figure suspended it should look awesome. (and keep top of the tank looking clean).

Im going to get a giant piece of driftwood as a centrepiece for the tank and set-up with a few amazonian plants in there. And add some sort of nice/larger piece of rock. The goal is to keep the back of the tank very clear (nothing near any of the walls). I've silenced almost all the water (Its set-up with a herbie) and all you can hear is the pump. I will be adding a mag 350 to the 20g 'settling' tank on the left inside the stand, that will empty/pump that tank out into the drain bin. The main pump will drain the sump into the drain bin. Then I just open a valve and my waterchanges will be done no problem!

I am not impressed with my lack of thought in how to lay out the sump baffles and that I was too impatient to install cleats for a media 'tower'. But I can clean the sump out entirely so im not worried about crappy situation for taking filter foam out. I dont know what the plan is but will figure something out soon.

I'll be getting a controller to attach to the two 250w ebo-jager heaters in there right now.

Anyways im kind of rambling but that is where im at. I'll be working on some other stuff in and around the fish room and look at getting more done soon. Unforunately im in school (spring course at UofA) for another 4 weeks and weekends im working so progress will be slow (oh no surprise lol)... but will try to update as I go.

Cheers and thanks for looking!

Chris

But its toxic now... its been 'freshwaterfied' LOL.

( Actually I think it is beyond salvage... those tiles will NEVER come off, im convinced, after when one of the doors fell inside our dump trailer onto a metal lip and nothing broke, lol).

Here are some shots of the sandbed & other stuff.

I've added two other fish from other tanks, (Parachromis sp. "La Ceiba" and a pike cichlid [Crenicichla lenticulata, 'Rio Atabapo' variety]) These two are hiding right now.
Here is the first fish that I'd put in there on wednesday. Its an "Argentea" (Vieja argentea - unrelated to argentina). He is angry because I added fish to 'his' tank. He is 8.5" long.

And because i found this in one of my salt tanks... time to trim his hairdoo? Haha.

Added some more driftwood to the tank and a few pieces of 3 and 4" diam. PVC tubes for the fish to hide in (to break line of sight) and a few rocks.

Will be getting a light in the next couple weeks! Just kind of tossed a couple 30" Marina light fixtures over the tank for now.

Thanks for looking,

Chris
