btw i just looked at that pic and that black ring thing you have on the top is actually a rim for the bottom and that top hood just goes straight on the tank, i figured that out not that long ago just a fyi

 Thanks for the heads up. So the rim doesn't come off, it shouldn't ever be there. Heh...heh... I guess it's just rimless.

i found that out after i had the tank set up for a while
 got a new light and mines rimless too lol
