Yah, i use live phyto to start all my batches with.
I used to use the disks but a live batch is just as easy, and alot faster.
Mostly you just save money in shipping alot of disks and they keep for a couple of months.

Ive had some that never did grow phyto tho, you normaly dont have that with the live batch as a seed source. Also you can be sure that a phyto disk has little or no contamination, but if you have a reputable source for phyto locally that is a better choice in my opnion.

That what I was going to say, you guys should group buy from someone like Plankton Genesis out of Toronto. I was using it before it was really commercialand have all ways used to for my next strain when doing my own culture.

Plankton Genesis Nannochloropsis Phytoplankton - 3L

Plankton Genesis offers LIVE phytoplankton products in two of the most popular strains – Nannochloropsis

and Isochrysis.

Both of these products are available at Reef Aquatica.

Available in 1L, 2L and 3L sizes.

Live Phyto is a great feed for your reef; corals, filter feeders, copepods, isopods and other micro-organisms will enjoy the extra food source. It can be used to increase the micro-organism populations.

NOTE: We might substitute multiple 1L for 2L or 3L sizes.

Default density stick

i bought my density stick at florida aqua farms-but if you want to make one -get a thick piece of plastic-and mark the graduations 3/8 each.bend the end of it over 1 inch and mark a circle on the end-dip it in your culture -and when the circle disappears-you have the reading on the side of the stick

I looked at the density stick from FAF and it looks complicated to duplicate thanks for the advice

I'm looking to buy from someone that accept's paypal but not hooked up to a major credit card I tried FAF but they require a visa

atleast that's what my brother in law said

I tried the 2 stores mentioned earlier in the post but they either don't sell it or are sold out at the moment
