Well I'm not switching it on and off constantly, just once a week to do my waterchange when the water in the tank is lower than the wavebox likes. I guess I should just leave it on and push it down in the water as the level gets lower.

oh ok.. that shouldn't hurt it unless it the way it is being switched as mentiond befor.. I assumed as you had it on a controler that it was going on and off several times a day.

No, it has its own controller and goes on and off via that. It just happens to be plugged into the aquatronica powerbar and is on 24/7.

I'm not the most organized person when I'm doing water changes likely I'd be across the room/in the bathroom/getting a drink etc.

Me too. I'm pretty quick with the water change tough. I have a pump set up, all i have to do is turn the pump around (switch the hoses for each other), and then move once of the hoses to either the drain or the tank. I can do a 15 gallon water change in about 6-8 minutes.
