that is one BEAUTY! Just wondering about his syphone hole there should it be open that much? Just wondering becouse i have a clam and someone told me that he mouth was open as much as yours and they told me it was "Gapping" and dieing? was concerned.. but he is looking good.. was wondering if that is common?

That clam is not gaping. You will know when you see one that does.

Occasionally, they do open up wider. It's all about food, I think.

My big Derasa has a much larger exhalent hole and it's been around for a few years.

I miss the little guy

Glad you're enjoying him though

I ordered my lighting for my new tank this weekend: Dual 400W blue wave ballast, bulbs, reflector...

this week I'm picking up the 1/2" acrylic for the new tank, I'm sooo excited

i was just looking to find out.. becouse my clam seem healthy too.. i was just hoping the guy who told me just had no clue!
