LED Moonlight

Newbie question...

I have a 1W (12 Blue LEDs) light lighting up the tank (20wide x 18tall x 7depth) at night.

It's bright enough that you can see whats going on in the tank without needing a flash light to check things out.

Should I run this for a few afters before and after the main lights come on and go out respectivly?

Eventually I will be getting a pair of false clowns, and a bangaii cardinal. Would they become stessed under constant light or do they need a black out period each night?

Is there such thing as too much moonlight?

personally i would leave it on all night. simulation of moonlight is good to have

should be fine, if you look at sundial t5 fixtures with timers and moonlights, the moonlights stay on at all times that the other lights remain off. So too much moonlight? No its not bad. Well if you have too much moonlight, that would mean not enough day lights lol.

In the wild the moon does not stay at the same intensity levels all night long. The moon has its own cycle of intensity as well as the variance of cloud cover. I do not think that the use of moon lights will effect the inhabitants of your reef to any extent, however if you have a timer you can set it to control the use of your moon lights to your preferences and have them off for the rest of the night. Go Green do not waste electricity.

There are some great products like ProfiLux that will control your lights including moon lights with the cycles of the moon and the randomness of cloud cover.
