I heard it crack when i was having coffee. I thought it was my bulkhead loosing off but i wasn't that lucky. No i don't have the little tank any more, it was gone about 5 min after i drained it. Everything is now in a rubbermaid container and i think Teevee is coming to get the live sand. Now i have to figure out if i'm done with this hobby or what i'm doing with all the live stock.

It is a bummer to lose the tank ( I know cause in the process of building my tank I encountered a leak or 2 along the way and 300G is ALOT of water ) ... you do seem to be quite talented at DIY and scrap glass can be had for cheep ( er cheap ) ... GE 1200 silicone ( look in the phone book under silicone wholesalers ... 5 bucks for caulking gun size tube )

Point is that as bad as it is now you can change that fairly quickly if you really WANT to. Been there and done that but if you need anything just let me know

Cheers

I agree, don't throw in the towel! That tank was so nice looking and when you sit down and think about it the glass tank is the cheapest part in setting up a system! And besides you have all the equipment you need. Your livestock should be fine in the rubbermaid for awhile while you get a new tank. Good luck and keep us posted!

What do you think caused it to crack?

Well just got the tank empty and the LS all moved. Cracked from right front corner to te back left corner. The only thing that saved me from 40gals of lawsuit was the plywood i had under the tank. So no it's not going back up i'm not building another one. If i get anything it will be small with no holes in the bottom.(just for the record the bulkhead hole had nothing to do with the crack).

Bummer!

The stand must have flexed somehow. I hope you don't give up. That's a RARE occurance.
If you post a pic of the stand, maybe we can come up with a method of stabilizing it for you.

Stand didn't flex, it's 1" 3/16" wall square tube. Welded by a rig shop foreman, welded the last stand i had as well. Dead on square. Got any other ideas on this Mitch? It's one of your tanks.

Brutal.

Don't quit for good though. As discouraging as it is, sooner or later we hit some catastrophe. We share your pain!
