Default Coral Questions (begnner)

I just started keeping Corals after having a FOLR for over a year.. Anyways, Coraline is good, calcium levels are good, alk is good, tank is clean and cycled.. I bought two corals today - a toadstool leather and a frogspawn bubble coral (I think that's what it's called) - How long do they take to open normally?

What do you guys do to "stick" the corals to the rock??

I use the underwater epoxy stick for stonies. A leather should attach to a rock on its own if it can contact the rock without being blown off for a few days. In good conditions things should be open within a day or so. Depends on the acclimitization, and how conditions were wherever it came from before your tank.

PS. If mounting an unattaching SPS frag, I use cyanoacrylate gel.

i 2nd tonys comment, in my experience with my leathers it took them a few hours, some a day to open. dont be suprised if they shrivel up for a day at a time. this is normal. in many cases you will see them shedding a layer of skin and then they will open/inflate again. this used to worry me so much in the beggining but now i know it is just what the coral does.
cheers
