You'll want round corners on the brace, otherwise you'll get stress concentrations and it will crack.



I'll draw something up for a wall mount when I get a and with a little FEA we should be able to figure something out.

I'm a mechanical design engineer, I design load pins and cells for custom applications among other things.

Wes, to include a carbon tray you'll need to extend the third baffle up a bit so it's higher than the water level in the refugium or skimmer chamber. Then the tray would simply hang on that baffle allowing water to pass through it. Sorry I'm not going to draw everything, I don't have that much time.

I use Solidworks with the Cosmoworks add-on for FEA analysis. And yes I really should be working. I have Ansys as well, but I'm not using that as much as it takes a little longer to setup due to having to transfer geometry from solidworks.

Thanks for the drawing. Yeah I knew that the corners should be round but I'm new to the whole google sketchup so I wasn't quite sure how to do it yet ahah. And I don't have solid works but I'd really like to get it now.

So what about the carbon tray? Where would you put that? Is that the real spacing you'd put the baffels? They seem pretty far apart.

I still want the egg crate removable despite what your inclinations might be. I've had to fish a yellow goby out of the back of an AIO too many times not to have it lift out.

Yeah I know the highest stress concentrations will be in the corner of the shelf where the weld would be, but I guess the stress analysis should let me know about how thick of steel to go with. I guess it might be easier just to set it on something, so then it will be easy to hide cords and such which might be a bit tough when hanging on the wall.
