How big is that clam supposed to get? I have a 55 gallon FW that I'm going to change over to SW...is this size of tank too small for a clam?

Clam and tank look great! hope you get the algae issues solved soon. I think we all go through that stage i know i did but finally won the battle after many months .

Despite the little bit of algae, the tank is looking real good Keri. And the clam is awesome! I went through a pretty bad algae spell, after I changed lighting. I ran carbon, Rowa phos, upped the Mg level a little and cut back on the photoperiod. Algae was gone in 2 weeks.

Hey thanks for all the positive comments all, and the link! I'd like to try the Mg thing but I have to wait till I go to town to get a Mg test kit. I love the way some of the macro algae looks (the violet/purple gracileria I think) but it's a constant battle. I should go caulerpa hunting tonight.... The sea hare seems to be munching away.

as to the person who asked about a derasa in a 55. I don't see why not, at least for a while, they DO grow HUGE (I think 18" or more) but that will probably take a bit of time so you could have it for a while in your tank provided you have enough light (MH or T5HO) and your tank is mature/stable. I plan on having to say goodbye to mine when it outgrows the tank or (likely) getting a larger system (Drew wants a 180 but would rather go FOWLR on that one so in that case the clam will have to go)

Keri, from that angle, it doesn't look like bryopis. It just looks like regular hair algae. So you should be fine witha a sea hare.

Yeah, the sea hare seems to "eat" at it but the volume doen't go down as much as I would expect....maybe he's on a diet

Maybe a nice little Scribbled Rabbitfish?? Mine is a great algae eater.
