Default 60 g sea horse/coral tank

I just recently got a 60 galoon tank and sump built through golds. The demensions are 36x20x20 wich is right around 62 gallons, not really sure about the size of the sump. This will house 2 captive breadbreeding seahorses, 2 griesenger goby's, 2 clown gobys, a yellow watchmen goby and about 20 sexy shrimp (or as many as I can get my hands on). I will have 36 inch coralife 150watt metal halide fixture with the pc bulbs renoved and hot5 bulbs will be going in. The plumbing is not secure yet as I still need some peices, so please dont cuse my plumbing, I was just feinding out so I kind of just set it up till I can get the rest of my parts tomorow. Tank has starfire front and euro braceing, external "herbie style drains" 2 returns drilled near the corners on the euro brace. sump is designed around using filter socks.Running a mag 12. Sould have it filled and running to,orow, I will post some more pics.

The setup looks good. That tanks looks quite well done too. I will be getting a tank done up in the not too distant future and was wondering what your first impressions of the build quality on the tank was?

Do you know who built it for Golds?

Just got the tank plummed, not very happ how it turned out. I think next time I will stay away from the flex hose and just use pvc pipe. I will have it filled and started cycling, I wil post some pics tonight.

I hear you about the flex pipe. In the future I would only use it with 1/2" or 3/4" tube becuase it is easy to "flex" when I was trying to set up my herbie with 1-1/2" flex even after heating it I had a hell of a time getting it to work.

Are you adding a standpipe to your herbie?

Have you considered to send your return flow a liitle lower into the tank. Your Exit flow is sorta close to the intake flow. You might want to put another valve in one of your exit flows to balance out the pump output to each side.

Yes, I'm sure you've already added a standpipe to the emergency Herbie drain....and of course you have a gate valve on the primary Herbie drain....

I know you mentioned using filter socks...you could extend the Herbie drain so that it exits below water line in the sump. Because the Herbie drain doesn't allow any air into the drain, there is no bubbling or splashing when the water enters the sump below water line. You eliminate a lot of noise and salt creep that way.

Salt level should be good, so I will post a couple of shots of the tank soon. (if anyone cares)
