agreed. once you have rock in it you can decide where to place the powerheads. When the rock's cycling (without corals in the tank) is a good time to play around with placement of your powerheads. What kind of coral are you planning on keeping? Acropora and hammer coral require completely different ammounts of flow.

The direction your powerheads are pointed and where they're pointed to can make a difference in your flow. Pointing a powerhead to push water over a big open area of the tank seems like it's not making flow but it's building up momentum which churns over a great deal of the rest of the tank.

Pointing it directly at rockwork will create localized turbulance that has some nice wavy motion but is isolated to a small area of the tank.
