So here's my question: if it's in the back and you can't see it...then why bother? Doesn't it out-compete things like hair algae and bubble algae? Wouldn't that be a good thing? Or is it just the fact that, if it's in the back, behind everything, it will continue to spread to the front and be a nuisance?

It can go sexual a release bad stuff into the water, I believe some people have had tank crashes do to this happening. The main problem I am having is it is really hard to pull off the rock the main stock is attached every couple inches or so.

I always had both calurpa and Halimeda growing in my previous tank, and they "went off" frequently. I never saw any adverse affects on the tank as a result. It was a very small tank also (35gal), so the potential to influence the tank was much higher than your system.
