Default new tank setup

For tank size, the world is your oyster(As quoted by someone.. not sure who ).. that is for sure.. my one recommendation is to go at least 24" front to back .It gives you a LOT of space to play with. As for depth I'd start at 24 and go from there. Make it say 24 deep 24 wide then you can figure the rest from there for a 180. I think it woudl be about a six foot tank for that. Don't quote me but I think I am close off of the top of my head.

With a tank that deep you can go two ways. 250W or 400W MH. With actinic supplementaion if you use Iwasaki 6500K(higher PAR). If I had my way I'd go 400W Iwasakis. One every two feet. So three.

I can't speak from which is better or worse with acrylic or glass tanks as all I have had is glass. You will have to find someone who currently has acrylic or has had one.
