Hi Camille,
My friend bought me this book a year ago - http://www.amazon.com/Marine-Fishes-.../dp/1890087386 Each fish has a reef compatibility and agressiveness rating. The book is relatively small. I keep it in my glove compartment box in case I find a fish I like and then I can reference it before I make the purchasing decision.
