I agree this skeems very good and skimmate is very smelly actually the smelliest out of all that i had before.
I guess smaller cup leads to more friquent cleaning, so it's cool.
I think this unit priced high but then there is no match for HOB and pefrormance, and was good find for me because my tank has no sump and i want simple setup, + i hide tons of chemical filtration media in it.

I like the silencer!!! I may have to try that on my MCE600... which btw, I love to death.. skims like crazy... The cup is small but after it breaks in you have the cup almost all the way down anyways for the most part. (at least it my case, I like it wet) Mine fills up in about 3 - 4 days. And really its good that it is small because it gets you to clean it, and as most everyone knows, that sludge on the side makes skimming slower.. so.. Its good to do it often.. My only pet peeve is cleaning the cup where it has the 90 degree bend etc, my tooth brush I use to clean it cannot reach in there so I have to use q-tips.

I find this skimmer VERY sensitive to large water changes, and foods if they are mysis or something and have not been washed.

Anyways, excellent skimmer with absolutely ZERO regrets, would pay the money again in a heart beat.
