			 I dont think their sheer strength would be stronger than rods? There is a much larger bond area in a rod than tube. Maybe they flex less though? Could be that the tubes are cast and the rods were extruded, but I still think its odd. Did he say anything else about why they would be stronger?

			 yah, after using the hollow rods, i'm not 100% convinced myself.  they did work well however would tend to break easily at times.  that said, applying the acrylic and hydraulic cement combo is amazing at making unusual scapes!
