That puts it in the ~225USD range then? So I was within $75 but not the required $25 in order to get the site info ... dang! Are you SURE there's no way you could bend the rules a little?!

PS. Yes, in case it's not clear ... I would like the contact info please and thank you. Feel free to email me, my email can be found in the "get poster's email" button tab thingy.

OK, might as well release the hounds...

I found this guy through eBay. He was selling a bunch of aquarium equipment, and I wrote him to ask him some questions. Turns out he is acting as a distributor from his home. He's got just about anything aquarium related, and sells it just a hair above wholesale cost.

Here is the pricing he sent me for the kit I ordered (prices in US$):

2 6500k iwaski 250w 35.00ea

1 pfo dual 250eye with 2 sockets & 36" parallel refl. 115.00 or with 2 flat refl. 100.00

1 pfo dual 250stan with 2 sockets & 36" parallel refl. 118.00 or with 2 flat refl. 103.00

pay with pay pal and shipping is free in us[/list]So I went with the dual 250 standard with flat reflectors for $103US + 70US for the two 6500K lamps. Total: $173US + Free Shipping!

That's about $280CDN after exchange, less than half the price of the same kit at J&L's before taxes!

If you are interested in this seller's phone number and email address, email or private-message me. I asked him about mentioning him to other locals here, and he said as long as you mention "Andrew the Canadian guy" he'll give you the same deal he's giving me.

I placed my order on the weekend, he says it will ship on Thursday, so if you order in the next couple days, yours will likely ship on Thursday as well.

PS.. This is the first time I've ever bought something from this guy, but his feedback on eBay is good, so I trust I'll get everything as ordered. He also said if I wasn't happy with anything, I could send it back.

Hey Jack, lemme answer your questions:

Paypal, nothing but trouble with them, even though they now are allegedly able to setup Canadian credit card accounts. Forget it, and just call this guy directly as he'll take credit cards over the phone.

This actually is better for him, as he still gets the payment right away, and doesn't have to pay the transaction fee that Paypal charges for the same payment.

As for the shipping, well I have a shipping address in Blaine, WA. It's called a "Parcel Receiving Service" at Mailboxes International just across the border. Costs $10US a year plus $1.50US per parcel received, and basically allows you to send parcels to thier address with your name on it and they'll receive them for you. It's the best thing to have if you want to buy things from US online retailers, or eBay sellers, as most will only ship to US addresses. I've been using mine for over 10 years, works like a charm.
