I don't have MH lighting, nor have I ever, but I would think that 1000w would run very hot, as someone mentioned above.

There was some rich guys tank someone posted on reef central who used them.
The tank was like 1000Gal and 5 feet deep or something.
So in that case they probably did'nt effect temp or evap much more then your average larger tank with 400's on it.
