Wow, you would think that if someone had a problem with your pets they would have told you or tried to catch the dog and send it to the animal shelter. Shooting and killing a pet is a criminal act and you should report it.

OMG Ruth. I can't believe this happened. How on earth can some people be so cruel. I am very sorry for your loss.
