![]() I'm also planning on putting this in the basement and went to Woods to check them out.
What I really want to know is if its worth while for me to buy a used on from the bargain finder then source a gas-fitter and do the rest of the install myself or pay the extra cost and have the supplier save me the hassle and take care of the whole thing. I will still do the decorative mantle and trim myself but I want to know where the convenience versus cost factor meet. Do you notice much warmth radiating upwards to the rest of the house from the unit in the basement?

![]() We put one in the basement from Classic, it has the the remote thermostat as well (which is awesome) and the fan. It does pump out a lot of heat. The vent can't be too close to your furnace intake I can't remember the distance offhand and it might not be an issue for you. We didn't need any coring done but we had them install the venting. As BMW rider said you need the install manual for the clearances for venting, framing, and surround materials.
