He sounds formiliar. As soon as someone hears that their doors are open, they should post it, as its on the way home from work for me. Im not going put them under the microscope until I see what they have to offer for us.

I don't know. Maybe it is Colby. That would make sense as he worked at Westhills Petland right? You can't miss him due to the eyes. Check out his contacts. They are bizarre.

I for one am willing to let the store open & speak for itself and not get hung up on preconceived notions from the rumour mill. Danny at Wai's has always treated me very well. He also donated for our frag meet in Jan as did Gold's and Ocean Aquatics in BC.

I do agree with what you are saying. I just have issues with the way the current store is run, so I am a bit worried that we will be getting more of the same down south.

If this other guy is running the store then of course we will give him a shot.

It's just not as exciting as hearing that it's another Gold's or Aquarium Illusions (Stores with a great track record) is opening in the South.

Ya know, its funny how people used to condemn BA's all the time. Then they closed down and all of the sudden we miss them. Then we move our misguided LFS frustration, too quick to point the finger and submit to buyer beware warnings on to the next poor vendor in line.

Lets just see what they will offer us. I know that I'm not alone in my relief that there is finally another store to browse.

BA Edmonton is opening a store here. I was there the other week and they said they were currently looking for space to which I replied....good luck.

I definately don't miss BA as a store, but do miss the inverts. That is the problem with Calgary stores. Tons of fish and not enough weird and whacky inverts and such.

I'll throw my $.02 in, that probably wasn't directed at me, but since I know I've whined about missing Big Als, I'll chime in anyhow. I never really "condemned" Big Als myself, I bought there regularly, knew the guys and got along well with them. They weren't perfect but no LFS is (I've seen the "good" LFS's on bad days and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty, if I based my opinions on what I saw on those days alone, I would never shop at the ones that everyone is so gaga over how good they are. The bottom line is, LFS's are run by people, people are not infallible and everyone has good days and everyone has bad days).

There were a few things that I was unhappy about, but I always communicated my issues with them. Sometimes we had to agree to disagree, most of the time though, I was a happy regular.

I, for one, have been whining about the lack of representation down south for a long time. So regardless of who's behind the endeavour, I'm happy there's a store opening that I can consider closer by.

The way I look at it, as a hobby addict, a store has to "try" to get me to stop buying there. Whether it's travel time, livestock conditions, pricing, customer service, etc. etc. (or some combination thereof), the "default" position is that I'll go check it out, and let's face it, a happy customer is a repeat customer so if all goes well I'll be a regular.
