Install itunes and any drivers for the ipod itself. Then import a cd from the cdrom drive to itunes (if its a real cd, not mixed, itunes should import all the titles aswell, otherwise its best to do it yourself so that all the songs aren't called "untitled")

Then update your ipod and presto! You have songs on the ipod
It says all that in the instruction manuals too.. its best to read those before doing anything, because if your corrupt the memory on the ipod, its useless...

You can usually fix that pretty easily. Err wait. no you can't, if you have one like this I'll buy it cheap for umm parts or something.

Honestly, you can get a more storage for the same price or better sound from other players but once you've used an ipod you won't go back. The interface is amazing.

If your thinking of buying an ipod, I'd hold off till after the 1st of April as that is Apples 30th birthday and they are rumoured to be releasing new ipods that have a touch sensitive screen the size of the ipod itself.

If you're getting apple stuff, the cheapest was to do it is to buy it directly through the apple website and use a student ID for the educational discount.

Sometimes you can just reformat the memory, but occasionally you'll lose complete access to the memory (happened to 2 friends of mine, because their computers crashed while downloading or clearing or something). It should however be covered by the warranty.
