Years ago when I was single and a rather new twonhouse owner, my furnace cr*pped out during a February cold spell, too. Was it ever COLD while I waited for the furnace guy

just got here and a fixin awayi was the 15 call this morn.should have heat in 20 min. house cooled down from 72 to 59. wife thopught i was being cheap on the heat.

If you don't have a newer mid - high efficiency (sp) furnace and the pilot go's out and won't re-light, just steal the thermocoupler out of your hot water tank(It will fit) to get you through the night.

help push the gasses out of the house.if it does not work furnace will not fire.
but all is good now. uuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm! heat

You have a newer furnace w/o a pilot light me thinks.

That was probably a power exhaust fan.
