Yes it can, the collection cup adjusts up and down for wet or dry.

I am looking to upgrade my CSS..... my wife bought me a new tank. Although yours is not much larger than mine, I may be able to run them both.
Anything else you van tell me about it? Does it work well Lots of action etc!
