			 Hello all,

A couple of questions regarding refuges 1) is a 13w (3000k) 800 lumen curly bulb good enough for lighting a fuge and keeping the macro algae alive? (it's equivalent to a 60w bulb) 2) Is there a product out there that will help seed the fuge with pods? (preferably supplied in Canada). I don't want to wait for them to 'just appear', and I don't want to buy a piece of LR hoping it will have hitch hikers. Thanks all! |

			 1) Sure it will work. Generally speaking, the more light you have, the faster algae will grow. But for a fuge, really, any old light will do. (I think, anyhow.)

			2) You could take a look at what ReefCrew has to offer (see banner above). but really, it doesn't take a long time for pods to appear if you have any kind of live rock (even rubble from live rock). I mean... honestly ... a couple days isn't that long to wait, you'll see them, they'll come. See if you can get a scoop of sand or some live rock rubble out of an established tank. That's all you need, the pods will come. (Really.) HTH

you need the light more in the 6700k rather than 3k. the curly cue lights are a pain in the ass to clean and you need a reflector orf most of your light ends up being ambiant. you can get these nice little coralvue pc light units with 2 8watt bulbs 6700k bulbs for around 30 bucks, they work great and are self ballasted.
