Default Precision Marine Marine skimmer mods

Clinton,

If you are going to make one. Don't do as I did with this one. Make it so you can dis-assemble it. I didn't and it appears I drilled the holes too big. 1/16th isn't small enough. I have been sitting and watching it for the last little while and I can't get a fine enough spray and bubbles for it to work properly.

With that said if you can build one small enough and that is easy to take apart I'd say go for it. I was going to try running this with my MAG7 but I forgot I put it on as a closed loop. ;) and I got a little frustrated at my obvious mistake of hole size. So it is now off the skimmer and my beckett is back on. Within 15 minutes I had a 2" column of dy foam running up the riser tube. live and learn huh?

I'll try it again. I know what I need to do for the next one. If it works it may save people from buying a massive pumps for a skimmer.

As for what skimmers it will work on. Well it for the most part would have to be some kind of beckett style or downdraft skimmer. I don't know what type of skimmer yours is so I can't really say how well it would work.
