Marc,
Use the Salifert test kits, there alittle more $ but worth every penny, very accurate readings. J&L's and OA have them in stock. To find out my depletion rate I tested Ca levels in the tank daily for over a course of a month. It was no doubt a chore but now I know my depletion rate and simply dose the required amount of LR every few days with top off. I also use Kents Liquid Calcium to bring levels up for water changes as I find the LR is good for maintaining small daily levels but the higher rates need a larger boost with LC-IMO
