Default XM 400 watt 20K MH

Hey guys,

Is anyone here running just 20K MH bulbs on their coral tanks? Or maybe 14K bulbs?

If so, is the 20K enough? Any opinions will be respected, feel free to discuss.

Thanks.

I have 14k's...they're about perfect for my taste, no actinics needed.

I don't run a 400W XM 20000K, but I do run a 250W DE AB 20000K. I like the color. Just wished there was a little more PAR.

Aww darn, I thought there was one for sale, lol, I want my mom's tank to have just MH, hate having the PC's in there. Have a 10K right now.

Yeah, with the 14K-50K you dont need actinics. BTW: 50K is like 20K , thats what I've heard.

Default bulbs

Hey,

I guess as long as the corals are doing very well than it doesn't matter.

I've seen Harvey's tank: Harvey, would you consider to have had excellent growth in your sps' ?

What about any others?

I read on Reefcentral that you need a range of 200-500 par to have good results. Any opinions...

Thanks

Well, I wouldn't say I have super fast growth, but I do have some decent growth. You could always run an AB 10000K on a HQI ballast. It is suppose to burn at ~13000K that way. Nice white color and lots of par!
