The webcam has been out of commission since last night. Hopefully it will be back up soon.
I have only really dove in Bonaire, Cozumel, Akumal and Playa del Carmen so I am not sure if Bonaire is typical. Cozumel has huge coral pillars and Bonaire is nothing like that. Probably more comparable to Akumal.
The most outstanding thing about Bonaire is the number and diversity of fish. Huge shoals of fish that seem to go on for miles! And lots of turtles.
The biggest attraction for us is diver freedom. Your dive boat is your truck and you dive as long or little as you want. No DMs to call the dive because someone is low on air. Our dives average 60-70 minutes, with the last 10 minutes spent kicking around in 15-20 feet of water searching for cool critters in the sand and rubble. We very seldom end a dive because of low air. Usually one of us is cold. I dive in a 3 mill but next trip I will wear a skin under the 3 mill for an extra layer of warmth. The older I get the easier I get cold especially on the 3rd dive of the day.
