These heaters default to 79c when the power is restored when using the on board controller & temp probe, why not just use the controller & temp probe that comes with the heater?
I have 2 in my sump and the controllers work very well for me.

Hey! I never "LEFT" the hobby, just doing fresh water now. Which is still listed as part of Canreef if I'm not mistaken.
